AT&T is showing great promise since the second quarter. They were capable of attracting more customers during Q2 and are having a good business at present. Recently, AT&T offered an opportunity for Missoula job hunters.
In a recent announcement, AT&T stated that they are adding a 100 customer care representatives at their call center in Missoula. AT&T spokeswomen Suzanne Trantow stated that the number of AT&T employees would rise up to 750 in Missoula and to 880 in Montana, once the vacancies for customer service representatives are filled.
AT&T purchased DirecTV last summer for an estimated amount of $48.5 billion, and the local call centers of DirecTV were also acquired by AT&T through this deal. The ownership transition has resulted in more local and statewide job opportunities for the job seekers. “There’s just a growing need. Demand is up and we’re always trying to provide our customers with excellent customer service,” Trantow said.
Tara Thue, Director of external affairs for AT&T-Montana, commented that, “These are good jobs with wages and benefits that are among the best in the nation. We look forward to welcoming new employees to the AT&T family.” Commissioner Jean Curtiss said, “We’re glad to have them bring in a few more jobs and it sounds like it’s a good investment for them. We need entry-level jobs too, but some of the people in leadership positions with DirecTV started as call people, so it does provide a career ladder.”
DirecTV/AT&T is one of the largest employers in the country and they currently hold the fourth position in the US. The new recruits will undergo an intense training program of approximately seven weeks. AT&T representatives said that this process is “a core piece of AT&T’s culture that promotes not only industry knowledge but also career development.”
Individuals who possess a high school diploma or an equivalent GED can apply for the post of customer care representatives. Selected candidates will receive vision and dental coverage, medical coverage, AT&T discounts, 401(k) retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, and a free DirecTV Premier package subscription.
AT&T representatives said, “The ideal candidate is able to answer 40 to 50 inbound calls per day while building rapport with customers and recommending solutions and troubleshooting systems on a daily basis.” Subscribers use this service to call and enquire about upgrades, programming, billing queries and products. AT&T states that they handle the calls in “a very open, fun, warm and thriving environment.”
