Hughes Network Systems® has launched a user-friendly network firewall solution for cybersecurity for small business with over one business site. The HughesON Secure Connectivity Services, launched by the satellite internet provider, offers customers a plug and play router, and is optimized for network security irrespective of their broadband connection.

Mike Tippets, VP of Enterprise Marketing at Hughes Network Systems®, said that it was designed to offer enterprise-grade security to small multisite enterprises as well as franchises. “Small businesses fall into a sweet spot for hackers because they typically have more digital assets to target than an individual consumer but have less security than a larger enterprise,” Tippets said. “According to the 2018 Verizon® Data Breach Investigations Report, 71 percent of breach victims are small businesses”.

Besides, it has a number of features that let small cybersecurity budgets receive enterprise-grade coverage. It also has 24/7 support, which is ideal for small businesses. The owners of businesses would rather leave the task of catching cyber offenders to professionals while they get to look after their ventures and chase profits.

Another notable feature of it is the PCI-compliant firewall, which stays internet-connected, so businesses that accept credit card payment are covered. Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard is the industry benchmark for businesses that accept payment via credit card. Another bonus of the firewall solution is how easy it is to get started with.

“The customer chooses the firewall model they wish to use and orders it by calling a Hughes® Sales Representative,” Tippets added. “When the firewall arrives, the customer connects the appliance (similar to a consumer WAP), plugs it in and turns it on. Depending on the model, the unit is pre-configured or self-configures to be online in minutes.”

The service is designed specifically for businesses with up to fifty websites. Tippets said that it is suited especially for small restaurants, franchises, and retail shops.

Tippets said, “The setup is less complicated than a consumer-grade WiFi access point. Regardless of the industry, businesses that want to move into Cloud services for POS, Back Office functions and other applications will require a proven, secure connection option to the Internet.”

The product seamlessly integrates with existing frameworks. Another one of the plus points is that it can help small businesses to modernize existing business tools they have. “We believe that the simplicity of this offering opens up connectivity to Cloud services for a broad group of business owners who previously hesitated to make the transition due to security concerns,” Tippets said.
