The Chief Executive Officer of CenturyLink®, Glen F. Post III, announced that he is going to retire on May 23, 2018, following an illustrious incumbency and an overall term that span four decades. Post has served in CenturyLink® in various positions since joining the Telco giant in 1976. Later in 1985, he entered the CenturyLink® Board of Directors, and has been their CEO since 1992.

His retirement day also coincides with the annual shareholders meet as per a CenturyLink® press release. In fact, Post had indicated the intention to retire with effect from January 01, 2019, but the recent announcement has reversed that to earlier this year. Last year, Jeff Storey joined CenturyLink®, from Level 3 Communications, as the President and Chief Operating Officer. Upon the retirement of Glen Post, Storey will take over as the new CenturyLink® CEO and President.

The two shares a mutual respect, which is evident from the fact that Glen Post has already said that he is leaving with CenturyLink’s future in great hands and from Jeff Storey’s words of acknowledgment on the present CEO who is set to leave this May. “His vision has equipped CenturyLink® with the capabilities to meet the ever-increasing demand for bandwidth, provide the digitalization of life for our consumer customers and address the evolving complexity for our enterprise customers,” Storey said.

CenturyLink® also announced Harvey P. Perry is set to serve the same role as the Chairman Board of Directors, while they have also appointed Bruce Hanks as the Lead Independent Director. Perry said that the fastest internet provider has grown leaps and bounds under the leadership of Post, which is evident from the increase in CenturyLink’s annual revenue since 1991 to 2017.

“It’s a remarkable track record. But just as impressive is the steady example of selfless leadership, concern for others and doing the right thing that Glen has exhibited during his more than 40 years of service. He has left an indelible impression on the culture and history of our company,” Perry said. “Jeff has worked tirelessly to make the integration a success. He has a proven track record and we are highly confident in his ability to take the reins from Glen and push our vision forward.”
