Comcast® to Increase Speeds of Xfinity® Tier Plans in Northeast Division

The fastest internet provider, Comcast®, recently revealed that they are increasing speeds in some of the popular Xfinity® Internet packages, comprising Blast tier and Performance Pro tier, for both existing and new subscribers in Northeast Division this month, which comprises of fourteen northeastern states. The speed boosting comes at no extra cost and outlines Comcast’s leadership efficiency in deploying tier broadband plans at high-speed, comprising gigabit speed plans that Comcast® gives to both business and residential customers.

While the speed increases in best internet packages would differ as per the Comcast® subscribers’ existing tier plan, a majority of the customers would get a speed bump of fifty megabits per second. If you break it down to new download speeds in Comcast® tier internet plans, downstream speeds in Blast tier is increasing from 200 to 250 megabits per second; from 100 to 150 Mbps in Performance Pro, from 25 to 60 Mbps in Performance tier; and from 10 to 15 Mbps in Performance Starter.

“With new devices coming online for consumers every day, we’re committed to offering the fastest speeds and the best features and overall experience so our customers can take advantage of the technology available,” said the President of Comcast® Northeast Division, Kevin Casey, in a recent press release. “We’ve increased speeds 17 times in the last 17 years, and continue to invest to deliver a fast, innovative and reliable experience in and out of the home.”

Both existing and new Comcast® customers will get a speed boost in March. Most of the existing subscribers of Comcast Xfinity® would get the upgrade in speeds automatically upon restarting the cable modem. Besides that, Comcast® will notify the Xfinity® subscribers who may require a modem upgrade in order to get the improved speeds.

Note that if you are renting an old Comcast® cable modem as of now and need to upgrade it to a newer one to get better speeds, you can do so at no extra cost. For that, you can either request a cable modem self-installation kit from Comcast® or visit an Xfinity® outlet or a service center in person. If you own cable modems and still need an upgrade to get improved speeds in Xfinity® tier packages, you can opt to buy a latest modem or rent an Xfinity® cable modem comprising of the xFi digital dashboard.
